"تم کبھی خالی پیٹ سوئی ہو؟ بغیر ڈنر کیے؟"

"نہیں" وہ جھٹ بولی۔ کیا ضرورت ہے سب کے سامنے پیٹ ننگا کرنے کی۔ جو بھوک افلاس کے دن تھے وہ گزر گئے۔ وہ ان کے بارے میں بات نہیں کرنا چاہتی تھی۔ اہنی نئی روم میٹ سے تو بلکل نہیں۔

"نیند نہیں آتی خالی پیٹ۔ مجھے نیند نہیں آ رہی۔"

"تو کچھ کھا لو۔" اس نے دھیمے سے کہا۔

"نہیں، ڈائٹنگ کر رہی ہوں نہ، سولہ گھنٹے بھوکا رہنا پڑتا ہے۔"

"تمھیں ڈایٹنگ کی ضرورت نہیں ہے۔ گال پچک جائیں گے ڈھانچہ لگو گی۔" اس نے چڑ کر کہا۔

"تمھاری طرح؟ ان پچکے گالوں کا ہی تو فیشن ہے۔ تم کتنی لکی ہو بغیر ڈائٹنگ کے ہی اتنی سلم سمارٹ ہو۔"

لکی اور میں؟ وہ دل میں بولی، بچپن کے فاقوں سے جسم بے جان رہ گیا ورنہ پیدا تو وہ بھی گول مٹول ہوئی تھی۔

عجیب ہے نہ یہ دنیا، غریب کے پاس کھانے کو نہیں ہے اور جس کے پاس ہے وہ غریبوں جیسے دبلے بے جان جسم اور پچکے گالوں کے لیے زبردستی خود کو بھوکا مار رہا ہے۔

ایسی دبلی پتلی عورت تھی اس کی ماں، جس کو دادی ہڈو کہتی تھی، اور ابو زندہ لاش۔

"تم نے کھانا ہے کھاؤ، بھوکا مرنا ہے بھوکا مرو، مجھے سونے دو۔ میری صبح کلاس ہے۔"
