From the series “Dreams Come True.”
In exactly one month, people in Auckland, New Zealand, will have the opportunity to view photographs by Bolesław Augustis, who lived there for nearly 46 years. Yet beyond his closest circle, almost no one knew that he was an exceptional photographer.
The exhibition Bolesław Augustis: Two Homelands / Dwie ojczyzny was prepared by the Widok Cultural Education Association (Stowarzyszenie Edukacji Kulturalnej Widok) in partnership with the Sleńdziński Art Gallery in Białystok (Galeria im. Sleńdzińskich w Białymstoku).
Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland (Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego) from the Cultural Promotion Fund — a state special-purpose fund — under the programme “Promotion of Polish Culture Abroad”.

The opening of the exhibition “Bolesław Augustis: Two Homelands” will take place on May 27, 2026, at 154 Gallery on Queen Street in Auckland. The official opening reception will be held on May 28 at 6:00 PM.

Czwartek, 10 października 1935 roku. Kilka zdjęć , oczywiście autorstwa Bolesława Augustisa (na jednym on sam :)), już pokazywałem przygotowując wystawę "To, co nie umiera, nie żyje". Teraz wszystkie 32 klatki zakonserwowane i zeskanowane. Białostoczanie przemykają Rynkiem Kościuszki, kondukt pogrzebowy idzie ulicami Mickiewicza i Świętojańską.

Thursday, October 10, 1935. A few of these photographs—captured, of course, by Bolesław Augustis (in one of them — he himself :)) —I had already shared while preparing the exhibition "That Which Does Not Die Does Not Live." Now, all 32 frames have been carefully preserved and digitized.
The people of Białystok slip quietly through Kościuszko Market Square, while a funeral procession winds its solemn way down Mickiewicza and Świętojańska Streets.
