Not many people outside of the culture of skateboarding realizes that the life of a skateboard deck in a professional use is quite short (sometimes it might be only a few weeks or even a few days).

Everyday, thousands of skaters around the world produce large quantities of wood waste that we decided to collect and creatively use following our passion. Each skateboard deck is made from seven compressed layers of Canadian maple, which are dyed in various colors during the skateboard manufacturing process. Inspired by these facts, we created BoardThing - handmade rings from discarded skateboards wood.

Piotr - 1/2 of BoardThing, a craftsman at soul, has spent most of his life shaping wood, creating things slowly and intentionally. He transforms discarded skateboard decks into rings, letting their stories live on through color, texture, and form. His love for mountains, snowboarding, skateboarding and photography inspires the aesthetic and sensitivity behind every piece created at BoardThing.

Telling people that our rings are made from reclaimed skateboard wood always brings a smile to their face.
