Gepard

The cheetah is a typical representative of such natural zones as deserts and savannahs with a flat relief. The animal prefers open areas. The cheetah lives mainly in Africa, in countries such as Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Somalia and Sudan, as well as in Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Chad, Ethiopia, the Central African Republic and South Africa.

In their natural habitat, cheetahs live 20, less often 25 years. Under excellent conditions of captivity, the life expectancy of these predators can increase significantly.

The body of the cheetah is elongated, quite slender and graceful, but, despite the apparent fragility, the beast has a well-developed musculature.

Difficulties in breeding cheetahs in captivity are associated with their social organization and conditions of detention.

It is the only modern representative of the genus Acinonyx.
