The Public Lecture by Prof. Andrzej Dragan will take place on Tuesday, April 8 2025 from 19:30 to 20:30 at the Earth Hall, PCC.

Do quantum measurements affect the past?

Professor Andrzej Dragan is a Polish theoretical physicist, photographer, composer, filmmaker, and science popularizer. He studied at the University of Warsaw, where he defended his Ph.D. with distinction in 2006. He is a professor of physical sciences at the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw and a visiting professor at the National University of Singapore. He specializes in relativistic quantum information, in which he habilitated in 2014 and obtained the title of professor in 2023. He has also worked at Imperial College London and the University of Nottingham. His research includes quantum optics, relativistic quantum information theory, and quantum field theory in curved spacetimes.

Professor Dragan is the author of 50 scientific papers and books. He has received many prestigious scientific awards, including those from the Polish Physical Society and the Foundation for Polish Science. He has twice been a scholar at the University of Oxford. He actively promotes science by participating in TEDx conferences and giving interviews.

Professor Dragan has also gained recognition as an artist. As a photographer, he developed a unique portrait style known as the Dragan effect. His works have been exhibited in international galleries, and his photos have been published on the covers of magazines worldwide. He has also created music, short films, commercials, and music videos.
