We came back from Łódź with very good news 🏆

BioCam took 1st place in the SoDA - Software Development Association Poland & Benchy.it Startup Contest 2026. Our Sales Manager, Marek Szmigiel, represented BioCam on stage and spoke about BioCam, veterinary capsule endoscopy PetCam, and why working at the intersection of human and veterinary medicine has become so important to us.

For us, this kind of recognition matters because it sits close to the way we work every day. We are building veterinary medtech, but also software, AI, and a product that needs to work in practice, not just on slides.

It was a good room to be in, and a good crowd to be in front of. Founders, investors, and people who know the tech scene well, all gathered around the same thing: ideas that can actually move somewhere.

Spring feels like a good time to keep going.

When we started capsule studies in dogs, we did not expect how many “surprises” we would routinely meet along the way through the pet's GI tract.

Veterinary publications report that over 90% of dog owners admit they cannot fully control what their dog eats. At the same time, around 30% of veterinary visits are related to gastrointestinal problems. Put together, this means a lot of hidden stories inside the digestive system that standard observation from the outside will never catch.

During our pilot studies, BioCam capsules often met unexpected passengers: a wasp, a pinecone fragment, a worm, large amounts of hair and fur, grass, and many other artefacts that became part of our growing imaging dataset. Each case is a reminder that “mild stomach issues” can hide very real risks, especially when they repeat or stay unexplained.

A non‑invasive, capsule-based exam can show what is really happening along the entire GI tract and help vets move from guessing to evidence-based decisions before a problem becomes an emergency. Step by step, we are building tools that let vets see more, explain more to pet owners, and act earlier.

Since January, Technomed is BioCam's partner on veterinary capsule endoscopy system PetCam distribution across Poland. Mid-series production supports the first major batch. 🐶
