Project HOPE Puerto Rico

"There is no power, no food, no electricity, no water, and most of the highways are broken. It's really a crisis, so it will take a lot of time to recover," says Izzeddin Sultan Saleh, an Emergency Responder with Project HOPE on the ground in Türkiye who experienced the earthquakes firsthand.

The devastation is widespread: Health facilities and health access have been severely affected, and there will be a long-term impact on mental health. Hundreds of thousands of people are without shelter and electricity in the winter weather and it will take years to rebuild. Project HOPE has deployed an emergency response team and is coordinating with partners on the ground to assess the health needs. We are also supporting SAMU to deploy a canine-assisted search and rescue team.

Our immediate focus will be distributing health and hygiene kits, supplying medicines and medical supplies, and supporting reconstruction efforts for health facilities that have been damaged.
