فنانة مقيمة في القدس وُلدت في الناصرة، تعمل في مجالات الفيديو آرت، والرسم، والتركيبات الفنية، وتركّز في أعمالها على استكشاف الأنوثة والجسد والهوية ضمن السياق الفلسطيني. في مشروعها «مقلوب»، تتخيّل فلسطين من خلال مفهوم “الكرنفالية” لدى ميخائيل باختين، حيث تنقلب العلاقات الاجتماعية وهياكل السلطة وتتحوّل الحياة اليومية إلى مساحة من الفوضى والعبث والحرية. المشروع مفتوح من حيث الوسيط الفني.

Mishkal Art Residencies

A Jerusalem-based artist born in Nazareth, she works across video art, illustration, and installation, exploring themes of femininity, the body, and identity within the Palestinian context. Her project “Upside-Down” reimagines Palestine through Mikhail Bakhtin’s concept of the carnivalesque, envisioning a space where social norms and power structures are reversed, and everyday life transforms into a realm of chaos, absurdity, and freedom. The project remains open in form .

تالا أسمر هي فنانة بصرية فلسطينية من رام الله، تعمل باستخدام المواد الشفافة والطباعة اليدوية والكولاج لاستكشاف مفاهيم الغياب والذاكرة والفقد ضمن التجربة الفلسطينية. في مشروعها «أسطورة في ضوء»، تعيد صياغة الأساطير الشعبية الفلسطينية والرموز اليومية عبر طبقات من الضوء والظل والمواد الشفافة، محوّلةً إياها إلى خرائط بصرية معاصرة وأشكال تشبه الطلاسم. من خلال العناصر التفاعلية والطباعة، يسائل المشروع رحلة السرد الشفهي عبر الأجيال، ليطرح سردية مغايرة تُعيد قراءة الواقع الاجتماعي والسياسي الحالي، مقدماً تجربة بصرية غامرة تعتمد على الضوء والشفافية.

Meet our Artist in Residence: Tala Asmar
Mishkal Art Residencies

Tala Asmar is a Palestinian visual artist from Ramallah who works with transparent materials, monoprint , and collage to explore themes of absence, memory, and loss within the Palestinian experience. In her project “Myth in Light,” she reinterprets Palestinian folk myths and everyday symbols through layers of light, shadow, and transparency, transforming them into contemporary visual maps and talisman-like forms. Through interactive elements and printmaking, the project questions the journey of oral storytelling across generations, proposing an alternative narrative that reexamines current social and political realities through an immersive visual experience rooted in light and transparency.

يحيى نوفل هو فنان تشكيلي متعدد التخصصات من رام الله، يعمل في مجالات الرسم والطباعة والوسائط المختلطة، مستكشفًا الإدراك والذاكرة والحالات العاطفية الداخلية عبر الطبقات والتجريد البصري. في مشروعه «حيث تتراكم الأشياء»، يطوّر سلسلة من الأعمال كبيرة الحجم تجمع بين الزيت والأكريليك وتقنيات اللينوكوت والمونوبراينت، لتحويل الأفكار المتشظية والضغوط اليومية والإيقاعات العاطفية المتغيّرة إلى أشكال بصرية ملموسة. ومن خلال الموازنة بين التكرار المنضبط والحركة الحدسية، يعكس المشروع الروتين والذاكرة والتحولات الداخلية ضمن لغة تجريدية تنبع من التجربة المعيشة.

Mishkal Art Residencies

Yehya Nofal is a multidisciplinary artist from Ramallah whose practice spans painting, printmaking, and mixed media, exploring perception, memory, and internal emotional states through layered textures and abstraction. In his project “Where Things Accumulate,” he develops a series of large-scale mixed-media works combining oil, acrylic, linocut, and monoprint techniques to translate fragmented thoughts, daily pressures, and shifting emotional rhythms into visual forms. Balancing controlled repetition with intuitive gestures, the project reflects on routine, memory, and inner transformation through an abstract visual language rooted in lived experience.

أسيل الجعبري هي معمارية وفنانة بصرية فلسطينية من بيت لحم، تعمل عبر وسائط متعددة تشمل الرسم، والطباعة الفنية، والفن الرقمي، والتصوير، مستكشفةً أسئلة الذاكرة والهوية والمكان عند تقاطع الفن والعمارة. في مشروعها «آثار الأسطح: دراسة مادية لجلد المدينة والذاكرة»، تبحث في كيفية امتصاص الفضاءات الفلسطينية للذاكرة وحملها عبر المواد والملامس والأسطح. ومن خلال البحث الميداني والتجريب المادي، يوظّف المشروع عناصر مثل غبار الحجارة، والأصباغ، والمنسوجات، والمواد المُعثر عليها لإنتاج أعمال متعددة الوسائط وتركيبات فنية تعكس الصمود والتحوّل والطبقات المعقّدة للحياة الفلسطينية.

Mishkal Art Residencies

A Palestinian architect and visual artist from Bethlehem, Aseel AlJaberi works across mixed media, drawing, printmaking, digital art, and photography, exploring themes of memory, identity, and place through the intersection of art and architecture. In her project “Surface Traces: A Material Study of Urban Skin and Memory,” she investigates how Palestinian spaces absorb and carry memory through materials, textures, and surfaces. Drawing from field research and material experimentation, the project combines collected elements such as stone dust, pigments, textiles, and found objects to create mixed-media artworks and installations that reflect resilience, transformation, and the layered realities of Palestinian life.

Hamza Amro
هو صانع أفلام وموسيقي وفنان صوتي مقيم في رام الله، تجمع أعماله بين السرد الروائي والتوثيق والأداء لاستكشاف الذاكرة والهوية والتجارب العاطفية اليومية. في مشروعه «أصداء البيت»، يستكشف التراث الفلسطيني من خلال الذكريات التي تحتفظ بها البيوت القديمة، عبر دمج الفيديو، والتسجيلات الميدانية، والمقابلات، والتركيبات الصوتية المكانية. ومن خلال القصص الحميمة والمشاهد الصوتية المحيطية وتوثيق البيوت التاريخية، يحوّل المشروع الذاكرة الفردية والجمعية إلى تجربة سمعية-بصرية غامرة تعيد ربط الجمهور بالتاريخ العاطفي للمكان والبيت.

A filmmaker, musician, and sound artist based in Ramallah, his work blends fiction, documentary, and performance to explore memory, identity, and everyday emotional experiences. In his project “Echoes of the House,” he investigates Palestinian heritage through the memories preserved within old homes, combining video, field recordings, interviews, and spatial sound installation. Through intimate stories, ambient soundscapes, and visual documentation of historical houses, the project transforms personal and collective memory into an immersive audio-visual experience that reconnects audiences with the emotional history of place and home.

تقدّم الفنانة المقيمة ريتا عمار مشروعها الجديد “فَقد” عمل سمعي بصري يستكشف الحداد الفلسطيني المعاصر والذاكرة الجمعية من خلال الصوت والصورة والسرد الشخصي.

يجمع المشروع حوارات وأصواتًا من مناطق مختلفة في الضفة الغربية، تتحول إلى بودكاست تجريبي وعمل فيديو آرت يعكسان الحزن المؤجّل وتجارب الفقد في الحياة اليومية الفلسطينية.

ريتا عمار هي فنانة وباحثة فلسطينية تعمل عند تقاطع الصوت، الصورة، والبحث الاجتماعي، حيث تدمج بين البودكاست، الكتابة، والفيديو آرت لاستكشاف الذاكرة والصدمة الجماعية وتجارب الحياة تحت العنف البنيوي. وهي تدرس حاليًا الإنتاج السينمائي في جامعة دار الكلمة وتحمل درجة البكالوريوس في علم الاجتماع من جامعة بيرزيت.

Meet our Artist in Residence: Rita Ammar
Mishkal Art Residencies

Artist-in-residence Rita Ammar presents her new project “Loss” an audiovisual work exploring contemporary Palestinian mourning and collective memory through sound, image, and personal storytelling.

The project gathers conversations and voices from across the West Bank, transforming them into an experimental podcast and video art piece reflecting delayed grief and experiences of loss in Palestinian daily life.

Rita Ammar is a Palestinian artist and researcher working across sound, image, and social research. Through podcasting, writing, and video art, her work explores memory, collective trauma, and everyday life under structural violence. She is currently studying Film Production at Dar Al-Kalima University and holds a BA in Sociology from Birzeit University.
