Today’s plane of the Week is British Aerospace 146 or AvroLiner.

It is sometimes referred to as "Jumbolino" because as many as 4 engines power this small 95-seater regional airliner. Having 4 smaller engines allow BAe 146 to be the quietest aircraft of its class. It also enables the plane for very short runway take-offs and landings. These low noise levels combined with short runway requirements allow it to fly in and out of some special airfields such as London City Airport. This makes it a perfect aircraft to order, if you want to land right in the heart of London and not waste an extra hour on airport commute.

A sufficient range of almost 4000 kilometers makes BAe 146 suitable not only for regional missions, but also a perfect choice for longer flights like London-Lisbon.
