António Olaio (Angola, 1963) has been exhibiting regularly since 1986, with notable solo exhibitions at Culturgest (Lisbon, PT), the Chiado Museum (Lisbon, PT), the Museum of Neo-Realism (Vila Franca de Xira, PT), the Grão Vasco Museum (Viseu, PT), Kenny Schachter conTEMPorary (New York, USA), Galerie Schuster (Berlin, DE), Mario Mauroner Gallery (Vienna, AU), CCA Andratx Art Contemporani (Mallorca, ES), Appleton Square (Lisbon, PT) and CAPC Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra, as well as participating in group exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris, FR), the Marcelino Botín Foundation (Santander, ES), the Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris, FR), the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris, FR), MAAT (Lisbon, PT), CAM – Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon, Portugal) and the Serralves Foundation (Porto, PT).

Ana Romãozinho (Portugal, 1996) vive e trabalha em Lisboa. É licenciada e mestre em Pintura pela Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa, onde se encontra a concluir um Doutoramento em Belas-Artes, na mesma especialidade. Ana Romãozinho é autora de uma obra eclética, onde o pensamento sobre o desenho, o gesto e a composição permanece central, numa pesquisa fascinada com a linguagem, e o seu jogo; com as formas, o modo como se organizam e como podem ser recebidas. O regresso ao desenho é inevitável, trata-se de um gesto generoso de partilha, comum a todos, que regista o pensamento e mudança no seu trabalho.

🇵🇹 - This month we are highlighting the work of Ana Romãozinho, on display at Drawing Room Lisboa 2025 at the stand of the Lisbon gallery 111.

Ana Romãozinho (Portugal, 1996) lives and works in Lisbon. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon, where she is currently completing a PhD in Fine Arts in the same discipline. Ana Romãozinho’s work is eclectic, with reflection on drawing, gesture and composition remaining central to a fascination with language and its interplay; with forms, the way they organise themselves and how they might be received. The return to drawing is inevitable; it is a generous gesture of sharing, common to all, which records thought and change in her work.

A obra de Sebastião Casanova (Portugal, 1995) gira em torno de um universo cosmográfico em que a realidade íntima, o cinema e a poesia se relacionam como alicerces do seu imaginário ficcional. Os personagens e espaços que cria, reflectem a procura de um entendimento sobre o que é ser humano, num reino onde as culturas, os estereótipos e o erotismo existem em turbulência constante. Através de uma prática multidisciplinar – pintura, fotografia, vídeo e performance – essas dinâmicas conflitantes convergem numa dramatização amnésica.

🇵🇹 - This month we are highlighting the work of Sebastião Casanova, on display at Drawing Room Lisboa 2025 at the stand of the Porto-based gallery Pedro Oliveira.

The work of Sebastião Casanova (Portugal, 1995) revolves around a cosmographic universe in which intimate reality, cinema and poetry interrelate as the foundations of his fictional imagination. The characters and spaces he creates reflect a quest to understand what it means to be human, in a realm where cultures, stereotypes and eroticism exist in constant turmoil. Through a multidisciplinary practice – painting, photography, video and performance – these conflicting dynamics converge in an amnesic dramatisation.
