I'm honored to share that my short story, "Departure as an Arrival," has been shortlisted for the Voices of Regeneration Awards! It also won $576! Woot woot! This is a global initiative by Unearthodox, an org. celebrating creative works that inspire a more just and regenerative future.

My submission is a speculative fiction short story that reimagines my own father's death, set against the backdrop of a society where burnout is addressed at both personal and systemic levels.
Anyone who knows me and my Dad will likely be able to tell the real from the imagined bits. Felt strange to relive his death in a fictional world but it also felt freeing somehow. I think he would be fine with a little creative license in my reimagining of his "character".

This story was inspired by my experiences in the Guild of Future Architects' Futurist Writer Room, a mindblowing, collaborative worldbuilding exercise, where we imagined alternative histories and futures.

"Departure as an Arrival" dives into themes of grief, healing, and the rediscovery of community through the lens of a "Community Resilience App"—a tool that reshapes individual loss into collective strength.

I'm beyond grateful for this opportunity to share it with the world, and I can't wait to see where these conversations on regeneration take us all.

Please check out all the inspiring works from other finalists too via link below.

Thank you Jessica Clark and Dot Connector Studio for your editorial guidance and support!

Give my story a read here and please share if you dig it:
