Have you got plans for the weekend? Visiting Gulliver Park in Valencia, Spain, was an adventure from the moment of arrival; it was like stepping into a world designed exclusively with children in mind!

The park's design stands out and it's a testament to what a city can create for its youngest citizens and their families.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Along the former Turia riverbed, this free-entry park features an oversized 70m long sculpture of the giant Gulliver lying on the ground, where children, like lilliputians, can play, run, climb, and slide on the playful structures that consist of numerous slides.🛝

This park beyond a children's playground; it's a reference to a literary classic and serves an important function within the Turia Gardens, draining rainwater so that, in case of heavy precipitation, water doesn't accumulate on the surface. This is truly an excellent example of designing for children's best interest.

Planos para o fim de semana? Visitar o Parque Gulliver, em Valência, Espanha, foi uma aventura desde o momento de chegada, foi como entrar num mundo desenhado exclusivamente a pensar nas crianças!
O design do parque é um testemunho do que uma cidade pode criar para os seus cidadãos mais pequenos e para as famílias.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Ao longo do antigo leito do Túria, o parque, de entrada livre, apresenta uma escultura fora de escala, de 70 m de comprimento, do gigante Gulliver deitado no chão, onde as crianças, como liliputianos, podem brincar, correr, trepar e deslizar por estruturas de numerosos escorregas.🛝

Este parque para além de parque infantil, é referência a uma obra literária clássica e tem uma função importante, dentro dos Jardins do Túria, que é a de drenar a água da chuva e em caso de precipitação abundante, a água não se acumula na superfície.
Este é um ótimo exemplo do que é o design para o melhor interesse das crianças.

Over the last weeks I have been at local schools presenting the Designing for Children’s Rights (D4CR) association and inviting children to join a big collective street drawing.
The event will be tomorrow, International Children’s Day, at Bonfim, Porto. You’re invited!


Nas últimas semanas estive em escolas a apresentar a Associação D4CR e a convidar as crianças a participarem num grande desenho coletivo no espaço urbano.
