Grateful for the journey—and for the people who help shape it.

The weekend of our WTSDA Region 1 Championship was a special one for me. It was my first time competing in the senior division (35+), and I was honored to earn three first-place medals and be awarded the Senior Men’s Grand Champion Cup.

But accomplishments like this never happen alone.

Master Ohlson has been my instructor for some time now, and her influence on my progress, training, and growth has been tremendous. Her guidance, standards, and encouragement have helped push me to continue improving—not just as a competitor, but as a martial artist.

This is what lineage is all about: learning, growing, and carrying each other forward.

Coming out of the WTSDA Region 1 Championship, I keep coming back to this, what you see here isn’t just medals… it’s growth.

Each one of these competitors stepped onto the floor, faced pressure, trusted their training, and pushed through nerves. That’s where the real work happens.

This is what Self-Control looks like. Not the absence of fear or doubt but the ability to move forward in spite of it.

Proud of this team not just for the results, but for the effort, the mindset, and the willingness to step outside their comfort zones.

Because it’s moments like this that push you beyond your comfort zone and reveal exactly what you need to work on.
