From the depths of South Africa’s Cullinan Mine to the polished spaces of Art Basel Qatar, this work by Ângela Ferreira traces a trajectory that is not just geological, but deeply political.

Her installation carries with it histories of colonial extraction, displacement, and unequal value systems. 

This is not about the brilliance of diamond alone. It is about what lies beneath it, labour, land, and legacy, that is highlighted.

In Doha, the installation asks us to reconsider what we admire.
Who owns beauty?
Who pays for it?

And can art make way for forgiveness and letting go of the trauma inflicted?
