Most tourists visit Paris to see the Eiffel Tower. They travel to New York for the Statue of Liberty. They make pilgrimages to Pisa, Sydney, or Rio for their landmarks.

When in Bucharest for a workshop this weekend, we went out of our way to see a tree growing in the middle of a bike lane.

After years of seeing photos circulate online, we finally stood before the legend itself. A sacred site. A monument to the eternal struggle between infrastructure design and existing conditions.

For bike nerds, this is our Mona Lisa. Our Stonehenge. Our Colosseum. A reminder that every bike lane has a story, and sometimes that story is a tree. 🌳🚲
