Meri the zu - “Femeie ieșind din nisipuri mișcătoare”

UTOPIA lui Meri plasează o nouă eroină în galeria de artă urbană a orașului Bacău, răsturnând încă o dată paradigma muzelor ca făpturi delicate, cuminți, care nu-și aparțin lor, ci proiecțiilor și așteptărilor societății despre identitatea “corectă” a unui personaj feminin. Lucrarea ilustrează o serie de aspirații morale ghidate de empatie și respect față de oameni, de natură și tot ceea ce ne înconjoară, care sunt urmărite cu o convingere militantă ce sfidează convențiile patriarhale legate de rolul femeii în societate.

Întreaga lucrare funcționează ca o alegorie plină de simboluri ale celor mai urgente probleme cu care se confruntă societatea precum și ale soluțiilor prin care efectele devastatoare ale acestora pot fi prevenite. Peisajul deșertic în care este amplasat personajul principal reprezintă amenințările schimbărilor climatice în timp ce cioturile de copaci ne spun povestea defrișărilor masive care au contribuit la crearea acestui context. În centrul acestui scenariu determinarea eroinei rămâne neclintită, lupta sa pentru a salva planeta fiind reprezentată prin casca de protecție. Vulnerabilitatea ei sugerată de ținuta sumară nu este o slăbiciune ci dimpotrivă facilitează o conexiune autentică și sensibilă cu aliați fantastici ilustrați prin personajele canine.

Motivațiile meschine ale distrugerii și violenței precum setea de dominație și putere reprezentate prin simbolul tancului sunt umbrite și zdrobite sub greutatea unor autentice valori morale și etice care derivă din armonia cu natura și iubirea împărtășită cu alte ființe.

🙌 The first mural painting in the UTOPIA edition has been finalized!

Meri the Zu - “Woman rising from quicksand”

Meri’s UTOPIA places a new heroine in the city’s street art gallery, once more subverting the paradigm of muses as delicate, tame beings that don’t belong to themselves but rather to society’s projections and expectations of what a female character should represent. The painting illustrates a series of moral aspirations guided by empathy and respect for people, nature, and all that surrounds us, which are followed with militant determination, defying patriarchal conventions about the role of women in society.

The artwork functions as an anecdote full of symbolism that represents the most urgent issues that society is facing, as well as the solutions that could prevent their devastating effects. The desert landscape in which the main character is placed suggests the threat of climate change while the tree stumps tell us the story of the massive deforestation that led to this context. In the center of this scenario, the heroine’s determination remains unflinching, while her fight to save the planet is represented by the helmet she wears. The vulnerability suggested by her revealing outfit is not a weakness, but rather a source of strength that facilitates a sensible and genuine connection with fantastical allies, illustrated by the canine characters.

The petty motivations that lie behind violence and destruction, like the thirst for power and domination, represented here by the symbol of the tank, are transcended and crushed under the weight of authentic moral and ethical values, derived from harmony with nature and love shared with other living beings.
