The women looked in the mirror.
They saw the scar.
They believed it was real.

Right before the conversation, the researchers secretly removed the scar.
But the women still thought it was there.

After the interaction, most women said:
“They kept staring at my scar.”
“I could feel them judging me.”
“He looked uncomfortable.”

But there was no scar.
No flaw.
