Bună seara!

My name is Akito Yamakawa and I’m from Yamagata.

I am studying IT at Nagaoka University of Technology, and I just finished my exchange program at the Romanian American University, in Bucharest.

My dream is to be able to use my skills in the agricultural sector. In my free time, I enjoy studying modern European history and playing board games.

Initially, I didn't know much about Romania, only that it was an oil-producing country in Europe. However, after my professor recommended it, I started studying its history. As I learned more, I became deeply interested in the country itself, which is why I chose Romania for my internship.

One of my best experiences here was going to a party with friends—I really felt the cultural difference from Japan! My favorite Romanian food is sarmale wrapped in vine leaves. I tried them at my welcome party, but I haven't found them since. I’d love to learn how to cook them!

Besides Bucharest, I visited Ploiești. Because of my interest in history, I visited the National Oil Museum there.

I’ve learned a little bit of Romanian, and my favorite word is “drăguț”. I just like the sound of it!
