A memorable celebration of living music at ISCM World New Music Days 2026 🎶
On 29 May, under the baton of Maestro Cristian Măcelaru, the National Radio Orchestra brought to life four remarkable works by Predrag Radisaveljvić, Helena Tulve, Jixue Wu, and Maciej Kabza, creating a rare and meaningful dialogue between creators, performers, and audience.
With commitment, curiosity, and evident enjoyment, the musicians embraced each score’s unique sonic language, revealing the richness, imagination, and expressive power of today’s orchestral repertoire.

Day 8 of the ISCM World New Music Days 2026 presents an incredibly diverse and thrilling lineup of cutting-edge ensemble performances and mind-bending electronic art! 🎹⚡🔊
Our Saturday begins in the morning at the National University of Music (Opera Hall) for Electronic Music Concert 2, an immersive journey featuring soloists and live electronic improvisations pushing the boundaries of digital and organic sound.
In the late afternoon, we return to the Opera Hall for a brilliant performance by the Couleurs Ensemble. Under the precise direction of conductor Alexandru Murariu, this exceptional group will bring to life a compelling program of intricate and expressive contemporary chamber works.
To crown the evening, we gather at Enescu Hall for a sensational concert by the prestigious Profil Sinfonietta. Directed by the masterly conductor Tiberiu Soare, the ensemble will deliver a powerful showcase of rich textures, showcasing the limitless possibilities of modern symphonic-chamber repertoire.

Today at ISCM World New Music Days 2026, New Europe College hosted the musicological conference “György Kurtág and Anatol Vieru – 100”, a day of dialogue and reflection dedicated to two defining voices of 20th-century music.
Researchers, composers, performers, and musicologists from Romania and abroad explored the artistic worlds of György Kurtág and Anatol Vieru through lectures focused on compositional language, memory, musical structures, and the broader cultural contexts that shaped their work.
It was a meeting of ideas, perspectives, and generations around the living legacy of contemporary music.
