July 1985. In one decision, Nicolae Ceauศ™escu becomes both full member AND honorary president of the Academy โ€” the country's highest scientific body. No thesis. No doctorate. Just a "special resolution."
๐ŸŽ“But it gets better. His high school diploma? He finally earned it in 1966. At age 51.
You read that right. Nineteen years BEFORE becoming an academician, the man collected his baccalaureate โ€” while already General Secretary of the Party, running a country of 20 million.
The rรฉsumรฉ of the "Genius of the Carpathians":
๐ŸŽ“ High school diploma (1966, at 51 โ€” patience is a virtue)
๐ŸŽ“ Academician โ€” full member of the Academy (1985)
๐ŸŽ“ Honorary president of the Academy (1985)
๐ŸŒŸ "Most beloved son of the people"
๐ŸŒŸ "Architect of modern Romania"
๐Ÿ… Honorary doctorates worldwide
๐Ÿ… Gold collars, orders & decorations no museum can finish counting
The boy who left school at 11 to apprentice as a shoemaker climbed the academic ladder in the exact reverse order of all logic: first he ran the country, then got his diploma, and finally became an academician. ๐Ÿ‘žโžก๏ธ๐ŸŽ“
And the truly fabulous part? Nobody voted "against." How could they?
๐Ÿ“Œ In 1985 the institution was officially the Academy of the Socialist Republic of Romania. The "Romanian Academy" name returned only after 1989 โ€” when the Ceauศ™escus were posthumously expelled on 26 December, the day after their ex*****on.
๐Ÿš— Want every juicy detail of how a shoemaker's apprentice rewrote his own CV all the way to the Academy?

โญRomania's Grand National Assembly approved the "Scientific Food Programme" โ€” making Romania the first (and likely only) country to enshrine a state-mandated diet into law. Elaborated by the Communist Party in 1982, it was sold as balancing "what people eat" with "real nutritional needs." The UN recommended 2,800 calories/day โ€” Ceauศ™escu's plan stipulated 2,800โ€“3,000. Better on paper. A cruel fiction in reality.
โญSince 1978, Ceauศ™escu blamed obesity for 30% of illnesses. Behind the science? A cynical cover for a man-made famine โ€”80% of the food was exported to repay foreign debt while Romanians survived on rationed bread, sugar & milk. Or second quality bone meat. By decree: 39 kg meat, 78L milk, 166 kg vegetablesโ€ฆ per year. Doctors, professors & labor unions all declared Romanians simply didn't need more food.
๐Ÿ”ด Not nutrition policy. State-organized hunger in a lab coat. Never forget. Never again.๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ
