At UNCHAIN Festival 2026 in Oradea, Tremend - Publicis Sapient joined two important conversations about the future of European payments and digital money.

💡During a panel on the future of payments, Marius Scarlat shared the stage with Bratu Alexandru (Banca Transilvania), Mircea Cotiga (Techventures Bank), Raluca Micu (NETOPIA Payments), and Marius Ursu (Salt Edge). While perspectives varied, one reality was clear: innovation in payments can only move as fast as the infrastructure supporting it.

Later, Stefan Patra joined a roundtable on the Digital Euro with representatives from the National Bank of Romania, the Czech Republic, and Georgia, Transfond, BRD Groupe Société Générale, Erste Group Bank Poland, and financial institutions from the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovenia. The discussion was moderated by Michal Pawlik of Warsaw University of Technology.

As Stefan noted: “Digital EURO success should not only be measured by consumer adoption and UX, but also by Europe’s ability to control over standards, data, routing, infrastructure, and operational resilience.”

And as real-time payments become the norm, another challenge is moving rapidly to the forefront: “In a real-time payment world, post-transaction fraud operations are too late. Trust has to be engineered before the payment moves.”

The institutions that will lead this transition will be the ones that build resilient foundations, modernize their core systems, and design trust directly into the payment journey.
