Enisala - an early 14th century fortress on the borders of Razim lake (of 394 km2 area), part of a lagoon complex. Built by the Genovese traders who dominated commerce over the Black Sea. Later an important defence point for Mircea the Old Wallachian prince against the Turks and the Ottomans. Deserted since the 16th century, but still here to tell us about a great period in the history of Dobrogea county.
