A few days ago we met with Lavinia Braniște for an open, subtly nuanced conversation, starting from Camping, her latest novel, in the context of our On Work exhibition.

We moved through questions of economic migration and how it reshapes identity; of distance and return; of relationships under strain, and the often fragile sense of “home.” We also lingered on the expectations placed on writers to respond “in time” to social realities, on what it means to build a professional life abroad, and on how ideas of work – and its futures – are shifting, particularly for younger generations.

Europe surfaced as a space unevenly lived and imagined, prompting a broader question: to what extent does work define us, and can it still hold the promise of fulfillment within conditions marked by precarity and instability?

Pár napja Lavinia Braniștével találkoztunk egy őszinte, finoman rétegzett beszélgetésre, amelynek kiindulópontja Camping című legújabb regénye volt, A munkáról kiállítás kontextusában.

A beszélgetés során szó esett a gazdasági migrációról és annak identitásformáló hatásáról; a távolság és a hazatérés tapasztalatáról; a nyomás alá kerülő kapcsolatokról és az olykor törékeny „otthon” érzéséről. Felmerültek az írókra nehezedő elvárások, hogy „időben” reagáljanak a társadalmi valóságokra, de szóba került a szakmai élet külföldi lehetőségeinek kérdése, a munka jövője és az is, hogy hogyan alakítja mindezt a fiatalabb generációk változó viszonya a munkához.

A beszélgetés Európára is kitért mint sokféleképpen megélt térre, és felvetette a kérdést: milyen mértékben határoz meg bennünket a munka, és lehet-e még a beteljesedés tere egy olyan közegben, amelyet bizonytalanság és kiszámíthatatlanság jellemez.
