IMPORTANT REMINDER for non-EU citizens currently in illegal stay status in Romania:

IGI Timiș receives applications only on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, between 08:30–16:00. Please bring your passport and, if available, your expired permit.

Queues are very long, so come early and be patient. Processing time is around 40–50 minutes/person.

If there is NO return decision registered in the system, you may still regularize your stay, search for a new employer and remain legal until 31.12.2026.

Registration deadline at IGI: 26.06.2026.

New requirement for Permanent Residence in Romania

Starting with applications submitted after 31 December 2026, foreigners applying for long-term residence (permanent residence) in Romania will need to present a Romanian language certificate.

The certificate must confirm at least A2 level according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
It must be issued by an accredited institution in Romania.

Applications submitted until 31.12.2026 will continue to be processed under the current rules, without this mandatory A2 certificate.

Condiție nouă pentru șederea permanentă în România

Pentru cererile depuse după 31 decembrie 2026, străinii care solicită drept de ședere pe termen lung (ședere permanentă) în România vor trebui să prezinte un certificat de competență lingvistică în limba română.

Certificatul trebuie să ateste minimum nivelul A2 CECRL.
Acesta trebuie emis de o instituție acreditată din România.

Cererile depuse până la data de 31.12.2026 vor fi soluționate conform legislației actuale, fără obligativitatea acestui certificat A2.

Dacă intenționați să aplicați pentru ședere permanentă, este recomandat să vă pregătiți din timp.

New Emergency Ordinance on Foreign Workers – Approved

The new Emergency Ordinance has been approved and is now awaiting publication in the Official Gazette.

• The new WorkinRomania digital platform
• New rules for changing employers
• Updates regarding the legal stay of foreigners in Romania

Noua Ordonanță privind angajarea străinilor – aprobată

Ordonanța a fost aprobată și urmează să fie publicată în Monitorul Oficial.

Ce urmează:
• Angajare prin agenții de plasare sau direct de către angajator-schimbare majoră
• Noua platformă digitală WorkinRomania
• Reguli noi pentru schimbarea angajatorului
• Noutăți privind dreptul de ședere al străinilor în România

Great news! 🌟 Today, a lovely family from India who reunited in Romania last December received the first state allowances for their two children.

From submitting the file at the Timișoara Town Hall (on March 17th) until today, it took less than a month! 🚀 The process was incredibly smooth: we got a queue number instantly, and the staff was extremely helpful, working with us to ensure everything was perfect.

What we included in the file:
✅ Birth & Marriage certificates (original + legalized translations).
✅ Residence permits (IGI) and passports (originals and copies)
✅ Proof of employment in Romania (Reges/Revisal extract) for work history
