Young and Mighty
Water Access Rwanda was started with the desire to positively influence two things: water scarcity and youth underemployment.
We heard of death from crocodiles in the East and we moved in to provide safe water sources. Many supported us with $75,000 raised in the space of 3 months; and young people in Rwanda were up to the challenge, as 10 great apprentices and interns drilled alongside one another to complete 13 Borehole water sources for communities in Bugesera and Ngoma District.
The situations we sometimes find on field are heartbreaking. But they are also motivation because we are moving in with solutions.
But we know we can fix it and should fix. And we tried at first, but were unfortunately not implementing the right solution for sustainable water provision. We were almost exclusively doing hand pumps and daily struggling with having to repair broken ones without funding.
