The Modeling / Fashion masterclass also featured three special voices who enriched the conversation:

🟠 Christian Nzaramba, fashion journalist and host at KC2 / RBA.

🟠 Maboneza, a former model, legendary pioneer in Rwandan fashion, and now a respected fashion designer.

🟠 Mathilde Mangeot, Cultural and Communication Officer at Institut Français du Rwanda.

Together, they helped participants understand the breadth of opportunities within fashion and modeling.

Christian emphasized that oversized or non-runway models still have incredible paths in the industry: from commercial modeling and local brand campaigns to becoming ambassadors for fashion labels. His message was clear — fashion is diverse, and there’s a place for everyone willing to carve their niche.

Maboneza, drawing from his dual experience as a former model turned designer, highlighted that discipline is the foundation of success in fashion. He explained that talent, confidence, and determination mean nothing without discipline. He further urged models to research, understand their craft deeply, and stay updated on global fashion trends, as success in modeling and design demands awareness and intentionality.

Mathilde added that Institut Français and France at large remain deeply committed to supporting Rwanda’s fashion industry. She also emphasized how they value the mission of Tarama Rwanda, which has led to a strong partnership on various creative projects — including Creatives Hangout 2025.

This sparked meaningful dialogue around representation, discipline, inclusivity, cultural exchange, and the evolving role of African models on both local and international stages.

🟠 Creatives Hangout 2025 | Modeling Masterclass.

On 23rd August 2025, at Institut Français du Rwanda, we gathered aspiring and professional models for an intensive Modeling & Fashion Masterclass.

Led by Franco Kabano, a celebrated figure with over 20 years of experience in modeling and fashion, the session was a powerful blend of experience sharing, open discussions, and practical training.

Franco walked participants through what it takes to stand out in the modeling world: mastering standards for international runways, maintaining discipline in body size & fitness, building strong personal brands, and developing professional etiquette.

It wasn’t just theory — it was real stories, lessons, and wisdom from a man who has seen it all in global fashion.
