A typical firearm bullet travels at approximately 1,080 km/h, though its exact speed varies depending on the weapon type, ammunition design, and barrel characteristics. While that may sound extraordinarily fast, it becomes far less impressive when compared with orbital velocity.
The International Space Station (ISS) travels at more than 27,600 km/h — roughly 25 times faster than a high-speed bullet. This incredible speed is essential because orbit is not the absence of gravity, but rather a continuous state of free fall around Earth.
Although Earth’s gravity still strongly pulls on the ISS, the station moves sideways so rapidly that as it falls, the curvature of Earth drops away beneath it at nearly the same rate. This balance creates a stable orbit around the planet.
At this velocity, astronauts aboard the ISS complete one orbit around Earth approximately every 90 minutes, witnessing nearly 16 sunrises and sunsets each day.
Orbital speeds also make even tiny particles extremely dangerous. Small pieces of space debris traveling several kilometers per second can seriously damage spacecraft, which is why global orbital monitoring systems continuously track thousands of objects surrounding Earth.
To maintain its precise orbit, the ISS regularly performs controlled adjustments using docked spacecraft and propulsion systems. The station remains one of humanity’s most remarkable engineering achievements — an orbiting scientific laboratory continuously inhabited for decades.
The comparison highlights a fascinating reality of physics: while bullets dominate our everyday perception of speed, orbital mechanics operates on an entirely different scale.

According to projections by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Pakistan's exports are anticipated to reach an unprecedented $35.63 billion in the fiscal year 2026-27, signifying the highest export level in the nation's history.
This forecast indicates a significant increase from the estimated $31.93 billion expected in the current fiscal year.
The growth is attributed to enhancements in textile shipments, an increase in IT exports, improved access to international markets, and enhanced macroeconomic stability.
Nevertheless, exporters continue to encounter challenges, including high energy costs, expensive financing, delayed tax refunds, and increasing regional competition.
Industry leaders are advocating for the government to implement measures in the forthcoming budget to enhance export competitiveness and sustain growth.
