Aircraft marshalling involves standardised hand or illuminated wand signals used by ground crew to guide pilots during taxiing, parking, and engine startup, ensuring safety and precision. Key signals include directing turns, accelerating/slowing, normal stops (crossed wands) and cutting engines. If I’m perfectly honest I’m not sure what this command exactly means? I think he might be possibly trying to take off or cool my brakes 🤔
An increase in tailwind shear—often a sudden shift from headwind to tailwind—is an aviation hazard that causes a rapid decrease in indicated airspeed (IAS), reducing lift. This performance-decreasing shear forces the aircraft below the desired glide path. Pilots are trained to immediately apply thrust and adjust the pitch attitude to maintain a safe flight path.
Performance Loss and recognition - The aircraft immediately loses airspeed and lift, leading to a sink rate increase and potential for significant altitude loss.
Approach Danger: Encountering this on short final can result in a landing that is short of the runway, or if the pilot corrects aggressively, hard landing or stall
This is from our last livestream in the Avro RJ where we encountered a brief but quick increase in tailwind which resulted in a loss of airspeed/lift!

Join me LIVE on a two-sector day in the Zibo Mod 737 in X-Plane 12
In this stream, we’ll be flying across the South Pacific, departing from NWWW (Nouméa) and making our way to NVVV (Port Vila) with a return sector.
The highlight will be attempting the demanding VOR DME NDB-A RWY 11 approach into NVVV—an instrument approach that points you towards terrain with a last minute 90-degree turn before touchdown!
