Football today is a multi‑billion‑pound industry — and that makes good governance and sound financial decisions more important than ever. One wrong decision can set a club back years, creating a cycle of catching up.
Last summer alone, Europe’s top five leagues spent over £6.5 billion in the transfer window.
The Premier League accounted for £3.2 billion — almost half of all spending.
And the top 20 European clubs generated £10.5 billion in revenue in 2024/25.
That’s 20 clubs out of 96.
When the stakes are this high, good governance and sound financial decision isn’t optional — it’s the difference between competing and collapsing.
