ENGSO participates at the Implementation Dialogue on the European Week of Sport with 🇪🇺 Commissioner Glenn Micallef

The Implementation Dialogue took place on 23 June 2026 in Brussels. ENGSO, represented by Communications Manager Polona Fonda, was among the organisations invited to contribute to the discussion.

💬 ENGSO shared its experience as a long-standing partner (since 2015) of the European Week of Sport and presented recommendations for its future development.

🤝🏽 The dialogue focused on ways to simplify the implementation of the initiative, improve accessibility, and strengthen its impact across Europe.

ENGSO at the Implementation Dialogue with 🇪🇺 Commissioner Glenn Micallef and the EU Sport Awards Ceremony

On 23 June, celebrated worldwide as Olympic Day, the European sport community gathered in Brussels for the Implementation Dialogue on the European Week of Sport with European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport, Glenn Micallef, followed by the EU Sport Awards Ceremony.

ENGSO, represented by Communications Manager Polona Fonda, was among the organisations invited to participate in the Implementation Dialogue. As a long-standing partner of the European Week of Sport (EWoS) since 2015, ENGSO shared its experience and reflections on the implementation of the initiative, while also presenting proposals for its future development. The discussion focused on simplifying implementation, improving accessibility, and ensuring the continued growth and impact of the European Week of Sport across Europe.

Later in the day, ENGSO also attended the EU Sport Awards Ceremony, represented by Office Director Marie Denitton, Communications Manager Polona Fonda, and Projects Officer Ophélie Delobel. The awards recognised the outstanding achievements of individuals, sport organisations, and stakeholders who have successfully promoted sport and physical activity across Europe through inspiring projects and initiatives.

ENGSO would like to thank Commissioner Glenn Micallef and the European Commission 's Sport Unit for the opportunity to contribute to the dialogue, share our experience, and celebrate the positive impact that sport continues to have on individuals and communities across Europe. We would also like to congratulate to the finalists of EU Sport Awards Ceremony.

Financial constraints, economic crises and limited resources can reduce the ability of grassroots sports 🏋️‍♀️🤾‍♂️ organisations to operate, particularly those that depend on public funding, membership fees, or volunteers.

🤝🏾 To address these challenges, organisations can:
🔹adopt flexible membership models,
🔹diversify their sources of income,
🔹and build partnerships with other organisations to share facilities and resources.
