Open access fiber has a standards problem. Every time an ISP joins a new network, both sides rebuild the integration from scratch. Billing, provisioning, technical interfaces, all custom.
That's why COS Systems and AT&T are co-leading the Open Access Network Forum, housed within ATIS, to change it. The goal: a unified spec covering the business, operational, and technical requirements for ISP onboarding across North America.
Our CEO Mikael Philipsson, vice chair of the forum, put it plainly at Open Access Day 2026: if every ISP integration is bespoke, you don't have open access. You have exceptions.

Open Access Day 2026 is a wrap.
From the opening keynote to After-Panel Drinks and the Open Access Bar at Celebration Brewing Company, the energy in the room reflected exactly where this space is heading: forward, fast, and with serious momentum.
