Some designs never go out of style.
Classic blue and white, with the delicate rice grain pattern — elegant, timeless, and quietly beautiful.
If you had met me at a pop up, I would have held this up and show you why its called the rice grain series.
When the piece is held against the light, the little “grains of rice” turn slightly translucent, creating that signature glowing effect that feels both delicate and magical.
Rice represents nourishment, abundance, and prosperity in our Asian cultures, hence it makes a meaningful pattern to bring to the table.
I know from google that the rice grain pattern is from a traditional porcelain technique from China known as Linglong. During production, tiny grain-shaped openings are carefully carved into the porcelain while it is still unfired. These openings are then filled with a clear glaze before the final firing.
Upcycled here into a Simply R&J tiered stand, giving this beautiful piece another life for tea, desserts, or a quiet afternoon snack.
Sometimes the classics really are classics for a reason. 🤍
