Music of James Tenney, has been with me since my first experience with his Saxony, that I listened non-stop for about six hours, while sitting in awe in one tiny room during my studies in Vienna.
Since then, my appreciation not just for his music, but also for his writings grew from which began a dream to bring his music to our audience.
Creating this album was a long process of research of Tenney's ouvre, discussing it with lots of people who met him, or are scholars of his music.

The final result is this album – Harmonic Spaces.

It's filled with rarities never released before, such as, CHORALES for Harmonic Piano, Chromatic Canon (in JI tuning) or Timbre Ring, which was recorded by fabulous pianists Ivana Chrapková and Júlia Stahl Novosedlíková, low-string trio consisting of Jakub Chlepko, Ewa Barciok and David Sarkezi and the whole group of amazing people from EnsembleSpectrum.

I hope, you will enjoy this unique album as much as we enjoyed recording it for you and for what would have been Jim 90's birthday.

Traditionally, Majo Dzubak provided his sound engineering expertise. Liner notes were written by Michael Pisaro-Liu.

🌟Review of UBU #03 - Matej Sloboda - Doctor ONE & Mistress PULSE🌟

Lucia Maloveská wrote for KlasikaPlus.cz a beautiful article of our third release, the debut profile double disc album by emerging young Slovak composer Matej Sloboda.

Lucia writes:
"On each of the discs of the double album we find three tracks, indicated simply by the word untitled and a number. Most of them, however, have a subtitle, such as a dedication to one of the composers who were an inspiration for Sloboda. In each of the tracks, Matej Sloboda presents a different approach to the slowly unfolding structure. In some places the impression of gradually interlocking surfaces prevails (for example, tracks 4 or 5), while in others we hear more specific rhythmic or melodic procedures (No. 3 or 6). Many of the specifics then become apparent to the listener only gradually, ideally with repeated listening."

"At this point it is appropriate to acknowledge the performers themselves (EnsembleSpectrum, edit by UBU C.). It is clear from the whole recording that these are players who have a lot of experience within contemporary music. It is not just a matter of how much they have contributed to the final sound, but also how much they have grasped the vocabulary of these songs. In many of the pieces, Sloboda approaches static through very homogeneous, compact-sounding surfaces, and the playing technique has to adapt to this. It requires unhurried onsets, an absence of vibrato, and gradual changes with no sign of 'stepping'. Without careful attention to these details, the pieces could not work well. The overall technical quality of the recording (sound master Majo Dzubak) clearly contributes to the sound and effect of the compositions."
