In Loving Memory of My Dearest Uncle and Aunty (Mr & Mrs. Kulagbanda)

Today marks the 5th anniversary of the painful day we lost you, my beloved uncle. Your departure left a deep wound in our hearts — a space no one else can ever fill. Just when we were still mourning your absence, six months later, your dear wife, our beloved aunty, followed you. It was a double tragedy, a heartbreak too heavy for words.

We may never understand why it happened the way it did. The pain still lingers, and sometimes the silence of your absence feels louder than words. But we hold on to the memories, the laughter, the love, and the moments we shared. You both were more than family — you were a light to us.

Though the family has gone through things we may not fully understand, we take comfort in knowing that God, in His infinite wisdom, knows all things. His plans are higher than ours, and even in our sorrow, we trust His purpose.

Today, we say farewell again — not because we have forgotten, but because our love for you will always live on. Your legacy remains in our hearts, your spirit lives in the stories we share, and your love continues to guide us.

Rest peacefully, Uncle and Aunty. Until we meet again.
Forever loved, deeply missed. 💔🕊️

STORY: A Good Friday Moment That Captured My Heart

While scrolling through Facebook, I came across a touching post by Ishmeal Alfred Charles, founder of the Sick Pikin Project—and father to a remarkable little boy named Malaika. What I read and saw moved me so deeply, I had to share it with you.

On Good Friday, during a fundraising drive for the Sick Pikin Project, young Malaika was out on the street doing what he loves—dancing. But this time, he was dancing with purpose. He held a donation box as he performed for passersby, raising money for children in need. People stopped to contribute, and Malaika responded with bright smiles, energetic dance moves, and grateful thumbs-ups.

But then something extraordinary happened.

According to Charles, an elderly woman—clearly struggling with mental health challenges—approached Malaika and began to dance with him. She wasn’t invited or prompted. She simply connected with his joy and joined him. Malaika welcomed her without hesitation. That spontaneous, beautiful exchange between them was powerful. A true testament to the unspoken language of love and acceptance.

And the story didn’t end there.

Later, Malaika asked his father for some money to buy water for the elderly woman. Charles gave him 6 Leones, which he passed on to her. In a deeply moving twist, the woman took 4 Leones from the money she received and put it back into Malaika’s donation box. Malaika ran to her and embraced her in a big, heartfelt hug.

That hug, captured in a photo, says more than words ever could.

It reminded me—and I hope it reminds you—that humanity knows no boundaries. Whether young or old, sound or struggling, we all seek love, dignity, and connection.

Thank you, Ishmeal Alfred Charles, for sharing that story. And thank you, Malaika, for showing us that kindness, compassion, and empathy can be taught—and lived—by even the youngest among us.
