Road to AFCON 2027 Begins: Sierra Leone Face DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Zimbabwe in Group E

Freetown, May 19, 2026— The road to AFCON 2027 is officially set. Sierra Leone have been drawn in Group E alongside DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Zimbabwe for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Leone Stars face a tough test against three experienced African sides. Fans will be hoping the team can repeat the memorable qualification campaigns that have lifted Sierra Leonean football in recent years.

Other headline groups from the draw include:
- Group C: Ivory Coast vs Ghana in a West African derby
- Group J: Defending champions Senegal leading the pack
- Group L: Nigeria grouped with Madagascar, Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau
