The Institute for Governance Reform - IGR through the project, funded by U.S. Embassy Freetown, Sierra Leone continues the validation meeting of Draft Development Plans for Local Councils (Karene, Moyamba and Tonkolili Districts) in Sierra Leone.
The project seeks to strengthen the relationship between citizens and authorities through service delivery.

Ongoing: Day 1 (Karene District)
With funding from the U.S. Embassy Freetown, Sierra Leone, the Institute for Governance Reform - IGR through the BASE project has embarked on Validation Meeting of Draft Development Plans for Local Councils in Sierra Leone-Karene, Moyamba and Tonkolili Districts.
Center for Accountability and Rule of Law - CARL as part of the consortium supports strengthening accountability and service delivery to promote citizen’s participation in local governance. This project is supported by U.S. Embassy Freetown, Sierra Leone .
Fifty-fifty Group Sierra Leone Chapter through the Building Accountable Systems through Empowered Communities ( ) project with support from U.S. Embassy Freetown, Sierra Leone holds District Level consultation on Gender and service delivery with local council leadership, key stakeholders and service providers in Moyamba, Tonkolili, Kono, Karene and Falaba district

Today, IRN Sierra Leone as part of the consortium presents the National Peace Message competition Awards

Centre for Accountability and Rule of Law - Sierra Leone ( -SL), with funding from through the project, rolled out training for CSOs, Media, Councils, and Traditional Authorities on institutional bottlenecks in decentralized service delivery, joint CSO/media advocacy for improved service delivery, and collaborative social accountability processes. In total, 108 participants were drawn from all the mentioned sectors, with 18 participants from each district.
Additionally, District Accountability groups were formed to support Councils in revenue mobilization and accountable service delivery. These groups will also serve as a forum for experience sharing, feedback mechanisms, and trust-building between citizens and the Council.
This activity reaches out to the 6 project district Councils (Western Rural, Moyamba, Karene, Tonkolili, Falaba, and Kono). This is part of CARL’s mandated activities with a consortium of 5 local NGOs, of which IGR is the lead consortium partner (CARL, , 50/50 Group, , and ).
