On June 13, the University of Hargeisa hosted a significant event marking World Blood Donation Day, organized by the AYPHA Association, the University of Hargeisa, Somali Health Exchangers, and Hargeisa Group Hospital. This event aimed to encourage university students to check their blood and donate, highlighting the critical role of blood donation in saving lives.
Blood donation is a vital practice that contributes significantly to healthcare systems worldwide. It ensures that hospitals and clinics have a steady supply of blood for patients in need, whether for surgeries, trauma care, or chronic illnesses requiring transfusions. World Blood Donation Day serves to raise awareness about the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.
