Somali Civil Society Concludes Consultations Ahead of Fourth UPR Cycle

Mogadishu, 7 October 2025 — Somali civil society organizations, in partnership with counterparts from the Federal Member States and with support from UTMIS, have concluded a three-week consultation aimed at preparing for Somalia’s Fourth Cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

The process featured three days of virtual discussions and three days of in-person validation sessions, bringing together key stakeholders including organizations of persons with disabilities, minority groups, youth representatives, and journalists. Participants shared experiences, assessed progress on human rights, and proposed concrete recommendations to enhance human rights protection and ensure inclusive participation in the upcoming UPR process.
