Women Digital Skills Hub – Summer 2025 (Somalia)

Introduction
6- Aug to 10 Aug Rawda Association for development organized a Women Digital Skills Hub to empower Somali women with essential digital knowledge and tools. The program aimed to strengthen women’s capacity in using technology for business, learning, and community engagement.

Objectives

Provide women with basic digital literacy skills.

Train women on e-commerce, freelancing, and online marketing.

Promote safe and effective use of digital tools to support small businesses.

Create a Women Digital Hub as a space for collaboration, learning, and networking.

Activities

60 women participated in the training.

Training modules included:

Introduction to Digital Skills & Online Safety

Using Smartphones and Computers for Business

E-commerce Platforms & Mobile Payments

Social Media Marketing (Facebook, WhatsApp, TikTok)

Freelancing Platforms (Upwork, Fiverr)

Mentorship sessions were conducted by successful women entrepreneurs.

Results

40% of participants started using social media to promote their businesses.

15 women registered on freelancing platforms.

A community network of women was created to share opportunities and digital resources.

Next Steps

Expand the program to include girls in IDP camps and women with disabilities.

Strengthening partnerships with international organizations.
