𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
The GIS Course is scheduled for the first week of August 2023. It is designed for individuals with little to no prior experience in GIS. This comprehensive course provides an introduction to the world of geospatial technology and its applications. Participants will learn the basic principles of GIS, gain hands-on experience with popular GIS software, and explore real-world case studies to understand how GIS is used in various industries.
𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀:
• Introduce participants to the fundamental concepts of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• Develop practical skills in using GIS software and tools
• Enable participants to create, analyze, and visualize spatial data
• Familiarize participants with basic cartographic principles and map design

• Introduction to GIS: concepts, components, and applications
• Data types and sources in GIS
• GIS software and tools: 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬-𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 with industry-standard software
• Georeferencing
• Spatial data management and manipulation
• Spatial analysis techniques: buffering, overlay, and proximity analysis….
• Cartography and map design principles
• Case studies showcasing GIS applications in different fields
• Layout Composition
• Working with Google Earth Pro
• Working with ArcGIS / QGIS
𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with data management concepts are recommended.
• No prior GIS experience is required.
