5th Anniversary of the SSPM/A
Revolutionary Greetings!
Comrades-in-arms, gallant forces of the South Sudan People's Movement and Army (SSPM/A), and the courageous people of South Sudan, today we mark five years since the birth of our Movement. This anniversary is not merely a commemoration; it is a reaffirmation of our unbreakable commitment to the struggle for freedom, dignity, and justice.

Let us rise and honour our fallen heroes, whose blood waters the tree of liberation. Among them are Comrade Gatluak Majiok Liey, who was brutally and extrajudicially executed by the regime by burning him in a burning hut, and other comrades, Nyuon Garang Kuol, Pur Ruop Kuol and Dhoal Barpuoh Tap, who extrajudicially faced firing squads with courage and all the other comrades who have fallen in the process of the liberation struggle. Their sacrifice is the flame that lights our path forward

On the 1 of May 2021, the SSPM/A was born out of necessity to rescue our people from dictatorial rule, the politics of tribalism, corruption, nepotism, and patronage, and to restore dignity, justice, and unity to our nation, in which the SSPM/A has set three phases of struggle for the past five years:

Phase-1: Mobilisation and Recruitment: The SSPM/A has called on the people of South Sudan to join the wagon of the second liberation, and thousands of the oppressed and marginalised have risen to join the SSPM/A, proving that the will of the people cannot be silenced.
Phase-2: Organisation and Training: Discipline has been forged, unity strengthened, and our forces have become a living embodiment of resilience. This process continues, shaping us into a formidable army in the liberation struggle.

Phase-3: Readiness for Confrontation: For the past four years, we endured without logistics, yet we persevered. Now, we are equipped and prepared. The SSPM/A is no longer an online movement or Movement of words as vilified by the regime; it is now a force with teeth, ready to bite when the moment arrives. Our mission is not to seek revenge or positions, but to dismantle dictatorship, end corruption and tribalism, and build a NEW SOUTH SUDAN where justice, equality, dignity and democratic principles are the foundation of governance. We struggle not for division, but for unity with the national agenda. We sacrifice not for personal gain, but for the collective freedom of our people.

The Juba regime has wilfully deceived both the people of South Sudan and the international community by proclaiming its intention to hold elections in December 2026. Such pronouncements are nothing more than a calculated façade. It is legally and practically untenable to claim that genuine, credible, and democratic elections can be organised within seven months when the fundamental prerequisites remain wholly unmet. These include:

• The absence of adequate funding and logistical preparation;

• The lack of a permanent constitution to serve as the supreme legal framework;

• The failure to conduct a national census and delineate electoral boundaries;

• The non-repatriation of South Sudanese refugees, thereby disenfranchising a significant portion of the citizenry;

• The persistence of rampant insecurity across the country, which gravely undermines the free exercise of political rights.

• The immediate and unconditional release of all political detainees is a fundamental prerequisite for the creation of open and inclusive political and civic spaces, which are indispensable for fostering a conducive atmosphere in which genuine, free, fair, and credible elections can be conducted.
Considering these deficiencies, the regime's electoral rhetoric is nothing more than a stratagem to secure yet another illegitimate extension of its tenure, with the clear intention of clinging to power indefinitely. Such conduct constitutes a violation of both domestic constitutional obligations and international democratic norms.

The regime has further demonstrated its contempt for legality and peace by deliberately undermining the 2018 Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS), by arresting and silencing opposition leaders with the intention of eliminating any credible challengers to the ruling SPLM party.

This constitutes a direct breach of the Agreement, a violation of international commitments, and an assault on the principle of political pluralism enshrined in democratic governance. Such actions not only erode the legitimacy of the electoral process but also amount to bad faith in the implementation of peace accords, thereby exposing the regime to international censure and potential legal consequences under regional and international law.

The regime's manoeuvres are neither democratic nor lawful; they are a calculated attempt to perpetuate authoritarian rule under the guise of constitutionalism.

The people of South Sudan, together with the international community, must recognise these tactics for what they are, which is A DELIBERATE SUBVERSION OF PEACE, JUSTICE, AND DEMOCRACY.

We urge the people of South Sudan to join the SSPM/A/UPA to liberate themselves from the dictatorship and to endure with courage. Our struggle is not against peace, but against oppression, corruption, marginalisation, tribalism and injustice. We seek solidarity, not isolation. We seek justice, not chaos.

We urge our gallant forces to remain steadfast, disciplined and loyal. The Struggle demands SACRIFICE, but victory demands UNITY.
The SSPM/A and other opposition forces under the umbrella of the United People Alliance (UPA) are ready and committed to rescue the people of South Sudan from the dictatorial rule by all necessary means possible.
