From Humble Beginnings to National Recognition: REDO’s Journey of Impact
In 2021, at one of the most difficult times in South Sudan’s history, a small group of determined citizens launched the Road to Economic Development Organization (REDO SOUTH SUDAN). With little more than passion and a vision to serve humanity, they began from scratch, working in fragile communities where conflict, poverty, and injustice were daily realities.
What started as a grassroots initiative has, in just five years, grown into a nationally recognized civil society organization making measurable impact across the country. REDO’s work now spans Access to Justice, Livelihood and Empowerment, Peacebuilding, and Community Development.
Transforming Lives
In Access to Justice, REDO has facilitated the release of inmates, supported survivors of gender‑based violence, and strengthened juvenile and special courts.
In livelihoods, it has equipped vulnerable groups with vocational skills in tailoring, computer applications, and hairdressing, enabling financial independence.
In peacebuilding, REDO has led civic education campaigns, community dialogues, and awareness on transitional justice and constitution‑making.
In community development, it has partnered with traditional leaders, faith‑based groups, and institutions to build inclusive, resilient communities.
From releasing hundreds of inmates to reaching tens of thousands through awareness campaigns, REDO has proven that locally driven, people‑centered approaches can transform lives and strengthen justice systems.
REDO’s journey from passion to national impact is a testament to perseverance and community trust. Yet the challenges ahead remain vast.
The organization is now calling on government institutions, donors, international partners, and fellow CSOs to join hands in expanding access to justice, empowering communities, and building sustainable peace.
“Partner with REDO — because when communities rise, nations heal.”
