Happy International Day of the Girl Child.

Today, 11th October, we celebrate girls everywhere their voices, actions, and leadership most especially those who are part of our amazing initiative. This day reminds us that every girl has the right to dream big, to be heard, and to lead in shaping the future.

At Junub Open Space - JOS we are committed to providing safe spaces, opportunities, and support for girls to thrive. We believe in empowering them to reach their full potential and become in their communities.

Let’s stand together to amplify girls’ voices, break barriers, and ensure every girl can access education, health, and opportunities without fear or discrimination.

In South Sudan, peace is not a luxury it is a necessity. The challenges we face today remind us that the foundation of lasting peace begins at home.

That’s what Salaam Fi Bet (Peace at Home) is all about. When we teach our children peace, we give them the tools to break cycles of violence, to resolve conflict without harm, and to imagine a better future for all of us.

It starts in our families. It grows in our communities. And together, it can transform our nation.

🕊️ Let’s choose peace, let’s teach peace, and let’s live peace.

Today, on International Peace Day, we reflect on the power of peace to transform lives, families, and communities. In South Sudan, peace is not just an idea – it is a daily need, a hope, and a responsibility we all share.

Through Salaam Fi Bet (Peace at Home), we believe peace begins within us, in our homes, and in how we treat one another. When we practice kindness, resolve conflicts peacefully, and support each other, we build a stronger foundation for peace in our neighborhoods and across the nation.

Let us commit ourselves today to be peacemakers.
Let us raise our voices for dialogue, healing, and unity.
Let us carry peace from our homes to our communities, and from our communities to the whole of South Sudan.

Peace starts with you. Peace starts with me. Peace starts with us.

We are delighted to announce that Imoya, our Coordinator, participated in the FGM Bill Country Consultations and Civil Society Engagement Training took place from 8–11 September 2025 in Arusha, Tanzania.

This important program, convened by MenEngage Alliance (MEA) in partnership with civil society leaders and the EALA FGM Bill technical team, is equipping participants with the tools and strategies to meaningfully engage in the legislative process.

Through her participation, Vicky is representing South Sudan and contributing to ensuring that community voices, survivors’ experiences, and grassroots perspectives are at the heart of the East African Legislative Assembly Bill on the elimination of Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM).

Together with MEA and our partners, we reaffirm our commitment to ending FGM across the region. 💜
