Breaking: Nyame Steps Down from Taraba North Senate Contest

Former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, has withdrawn from the race for the Taraba North Senatorial seat, bringing an abrupt end to his return to electoral politics.

The decision comes shortly after his re-entry into the All Progressives Congress (APC), less than two weeks after he left for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The swift sequence of moves has raised questions about the underlying political calculations.

It will be recalled that a High Court sitting in Jalingo had earlier disqualified him from contesting for any political office, a development that appears to have shaped the present outcome.

Court Convicts Ex-Power Minister Saleh Mamman Over N33.8bn Fraud

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday convicted former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, over allegations of money laundering involving N33.8 billion.

Delivering judgment, Justice James Omotosho held that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) successfully proved the 12-count amended charge against the former minister beyond reasonable doubt.

Mr Mamman was, however, absent in court during the proceedings and delivery of the judgment.
