🏃🏾♂️ Age is No Barrier to Greatness. Inspiration Knows No Finish Line.
At 84 years old, Marosi (Johannes) Mosehla from Limpopo has once again demonstrated the power of determination, resilience, and the human spirit. Officially recognized as the oldest entrant in the 2026 Comrades Marathon, his remarkable achievement serves as an inspiration not only to athletes but to all Africans and the world.
The Sekhukhune-born athlete successfully finished the 2026 Comrades Marathon, the grueling 85.77km down run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg in an impressive time of 11 hours and 12 minutes, comfortably beating the official cut-off time.
Stories like Mr. Mosehla's highlight the immense value of sports tourism—bringing communities together, celebrating human achievement, and showcasing destinations through world-class events.
The African Tourism Board congratulates this extraordinary veteran athlete for reminding us that passion, discipline, and courage have no age limit.
Africa's greatest asset is its people, and their stories continue to inspire global audiences while strengthening our tourism brand.
One Africa. One Destination. One Vision.

Congratulations Nobukhosi Tshuma!
The African Tourism Board proudly congratulates Zimbabwe's endurance star, Nobukhosi Tshuma, on her outstanding 2nd place finish at the 2026 Comrades Marathon, one of the world's most iconic ultra-marathon events. Her remarkable performance is a victory not only for Zimbabwe but for the entire African continent.
Nobukhosi's achievement demonstrates the power of determination, resilience, and excellence that continues to define Africa's athletes on the global stage. Following her impressive podium finish at the 2026 Two Oceans Marathon, she has once again proven that African talent can compete with the very best in the world.
Sport and tourism are natural partners. Events such as the Comrades Marathon attract thousands of athletes, spectators, media professionals, sponsors, and international visitors, creating significant economic opportunities for destinations while promoting cultural exchange and regional development.
The African Tourism Board calls upon governments, tourism authorities, airlines, hospitality groups, corporate sponsors, and destination marketing organizations to invest more strategically in sports tourism. Supporting athletes and world-class sporting events is an investment in destination visibility, economic growth, youth empowerment, and Africa's global competitiveness.
Today, we celebrate Nobukhosi Tshuma as both a champion athlete and an ambassador for African excellence.
Congratulations, Nobukhosi. Africa is proud of you.
🌍 One Africa. One Destination. One Vision.
