Meta Pages are Being Targeted by Scammers

We have noticed increased scammer activity targeting Meta Pages(Facebook & Instagram). It is therefore crucial to stay extra vigilant and protect our pages from being hacked while managing our online presence.

The biggest risk is being hacked and completely losing control of your pages permanently.

NOTE: Official Meta communication is always shared through an email, not on Inbox or comments.

Precautions:
▶️ Never click on any link unless you are 100% sure that it is safe and it is from a trusted source.
▶️ Avoid watching videos and viewing posts, or sites that look fishy or unprofessional while logged into our Meta Accounts.
▶️ Do not click on links that will take you away from Facebook or Instagram to sites that are suspicious and unprofessional.
▶️ Avoid switching between platforms while managing our pages.
▶️ If you are a Page Admin, avoid switching between pages while actively using social media.
▶️ Maintain a professional online presence including conduct and behaviour at all times.
▶️ Keep our online interactions clean and appropriate, do not be actively engaging with fishy content.
▶️ Ensure that you are using a strong, and unique password for all your social media accounts.
▶️ Enable two-factor authentication in the security for your personal accounts, as this adds an extra layer of security to your accounts and to the pages you manage.
▶️ Always verify the authenticity of pages and accounts before you act or respond to them or their requests.
▶️ Immediately report and block any suspicious users or accounts.
▶️ Always verify information from Meta through official channels.
▶️ Regularly review your page's settings and security.
▶️ Be vigilant on unsolicited messages or friend requests on your personal profile if you are a Page Admin because that might expose our pages to risks.
▶️ Do not respond or comment to spam messages, instead DELETE and BLOCK those users.
▶️ Keep your software and apps updated with the latest security patches.
▶️ Regularly review your personal account settings and privacy controls.
▶️ Raise an alarm immediately you are prompted to change your password, or you are told your session has expired.
▶️ Such prompts might be a sign that someone else is trying to access your account or hack you. At that moment, change your password, review your activity Log, check active users/admins, if you see people you don't know, remove them.
▶️ Lastly, review all logged-in devices and remove all unknown logged devices. Make sure that your app is updated.
