Trying to put this friendship into words feels impossible.

We didn’t just travel together, we lived together. Countless countries. Endless adventures. Makeshift concerts, jumping out of planes, slipping beneath the surface, crossing oceans under sail. Taking turns wing manning each other through love, chaos, laughter, heartbreak, and everything in between. We shared this world in its rawest, wildest, most beautiful forms.

We built businesses, ate ridiculous amounts of pizza, made ceviche from fish we caught ourselves. Carlo had this calm with sharks, like he understood them. He once casually mentioned he’d been bitten by one and brushed it off like it was nothing. Quiet courage. Just solid.

From London pub runs to festivals in Denmark, from backpacks to boats, we collected moments everywhere. He went on to produce and film documentaries for festivals, always chasing stories. I had the pleasure of meeting his brother Marco, who became like a brother to me too, and his beautiful mum Elena, who somehow put up with our troublesome behaviour with endless love.

Carlo gave more than he ever took. He only really had fun if everyone around him was having fun too.

The constant in my life has been this bull shark tooth around my neck. When I touch it, it reminds me what matters, living fully, looking after people, and trying to be better. I’ll always look to Carlo for strength of character.

I’m grateful for every watch we stood together, every sunrise at sea, every laugh, every quiet moment under unfamiliar stars. And somehow I’ll always picture you the same way, not gone, just offshore. Still chasing weather windows. Still trimming sails somewhere out on the Pacific.

We shared something rare, brother.
