เด็กวัยรุ่นยุคนี้ไม่ได้แข่งขันเฉพาะในห้องเรียน แต่แข่งกับ “ฟีดของเพื่อน” ตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง ข้อมูลล่าสุดชี้ว่า เยาวชนจำนวนมากรู้สึกว่าความสัมพันธ์และโซเชียลมีเดียเป็นหนึ่งในแหล่งความเครียดหลัก และมีการเตือนถึง “loneliness epidemic”

หรือการระบาดของความเหงา ในหมู่เยาวชนทั่วโลก ในไทยเอง เราเห็นจำนวนเด็กที่ต้องขอรับการดูแลด้านสุขภาพใจมากขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ ทั้งจากโรงพยาบาลและศูนย์ให้คำปรึกษาสำหรับพ่อแม่

ในฐานะแม่ แม่เชื่อว่าบ้านไม่ควรเป็น “สนามสอบรอบสอง” หลังจากเด็กเจอความกดดันมาทั้งวันแล้ว แต่บ้านควรเป็นที่ที่ลูก “ถอดหน้ากากได้” งานวิจัยด้านการเลี้ยงดูในบริบทไทยพบว่า การอบรมแบบอบอุ่นเพื่อสนับสนุนลูก (supportive parenting) ที่ผสมผสานความคาดหวังอย่างเหมาะสมกับการสื่อสารอย่างอ่อนโยน ช่วยลดปัญหาปรับตัวและปัญหาพฤติกรรมในเด็กได้อย่างมีนัยสำคัญ

วันนี้ลองเริ่มง่าย ๆ ด้วยการเปลี่ยนคำถามตอนลูกกลับบ้าน จาก
“วันนี้สอบเป็นยังไง ทำการบ้านเสร็จหรือยัง?” เป็น
“วันนี้มีช่วงเวลาไหนที่ลูกเหนื่อยหรือเครียดที่สุด แล้วแม่ช่วยอะไรได้บ้าง?”

และอย่าลืมถามต่อว่า “วันนี้มีอะไรเล็ก ๆ ที่ทำให้ลูกยิ้มได้บ้าง?”
การสะท้อนทั้งความเหนื่อยและความสุขเล็ก ๆ ทำให้เด็กเรียนรู้การอ่านอารมณ์ตัวเอง

Today’s teenagers are not only competing in classrooms; they are constantly comparing themselves to everyone else’s highlight reels online. New data points to relationship‑based stress and social‑media‑driven pressure as major sources of distress for young people, with experts warning of a “loneliness epidemic” among youth In Thailand, hospitals and parenting centers report increasing demand for child and adolescent mental‑health support, from counselling and assessments to resilience‑building workshops for families

As a mother, I believe home must not become “exam hall part two” after a long day of pressure. Home should be where our teens can take their masks off.

Research on Thai parenting shows that warm, supportive parenting-combining reasonable expectations with gentle, open communication-is associated with better adjustment and fewer behavioral problems in children and adolescents

So here is a simple shift we can try today. Instead of asking,
“How was the test? Did you finish your homework?”, try:
“What was the most tiring or stressful moment for you today, and how can I support you?”

And then ask, “What is one small thing that made you smile today?”

This twin focus-acknowledging both strain and small joys—helps teens build emotional literacy, a core social‑emotional skill the OECD lists as crucial for 2030 alongside creativity and responsibility.
