I've gained a new appreciation these past months, first becoming a dad, shifting my production approach (nap times?) 👶 and more grateful than ever when new music finds a home to vibe with listeners. SAMCHE began as a musical journey and means of expression for an otherwise humanitarian worker, based in conflict zones such as Yemen, Iraq and Libya. His first songs were composed and recorded from within UN compounds and on the road near the frontlines of war, using equipment suitable for on-the-go travel and making it past military checkpoints. Since then, SAMCHE’s music has continued to evolve into production and DJing, with the support and influence of the music scenes in Beirut and Ibiza.
SAMCHE’s debut album has just released and is available now, with tracks that range from electro, pop, progressive, minimal, dance and simply good sounds. The song entitled Umi Yemen is dedicated to that country, and involves instrumentalization of data on how many civilians were killed or injured each day through 2018-19, as well as sounds of fighting in Sana’a recorded at the end of 2017 – bringing the listener on a true musical journey into the heart of Yemen and the cost of conflict.
