P. Black Rhino is another staghorn fern derived from White Wing sporelings. It belongs to the same collection as White Rhino, a series created by my sister, who draws her inspiration from the powerful symbolism of rhinos. Her creativity and passion brought these remarkable pieces to life.

The phrase “to cut cleanly in a single stroke” is not an exaggeration, but a fundamental principle especially when separating pups of staghorn ferns (Platycerium willinckii).
Using a sharp blade and completing the cut in one decisive motion creates a clean, smooth wound, minimizing damage to the root tissues. This allows the roots to recover faster and regenerate more effectively, supporting healthy establishment after separation.
In contrast, using a dull blade that requires repeated pressure and multiple cuts will crush and tear the root tissue. Such trauma increases the risk of fungal or bacterial infection, slows down recovery, and can compromise the long-term vigor of the plant.
